INAUGURAL CEREMONY
The Inaugural Ceremony of the 1st National Online Med-Arb Competition was conducted on 30th October 2020 on Cisco WebEx.
The event was graced by our guest speakers Mr. Anil Changaroth, Advocate & Solicitor of Singapore and Solicitor of England & Wales, Mediator and an Arbitrator and Mr. Ganesh Chandru,a Partner at DUA Associates.The guest speakers enlightened the participants with their experience in the field of mediation and arbitration along with their words of wisdom. It was intriguing to hear about how ADR could be used as “appropriate dispute resolution” as quoted by Anil Sir and also how Ganesh sir emphasised on Alternate Dispute Resolution in Ancient India from the times of Mahabharat had major significance in the contemporary world such as the New York Convention and Singapore Convention. We were pleased to have such experienced guest speakers among us.
The event ended by the vote of thanks given by the Convenor of ADR Board, K Prajna Kariappa followed by the Christ Anthem.

PRELIMINARY ROUNDS
The Preliminary Rounds took place on 20th October 2020. The participating teams gave an enthralling performance as they fought for the 8 Quarter-Final Spots.
QUARTER-FINAL ROUNDS
The Quarter Final Rounds were held on 31st October 2020. After a tough fight to grab the 8 spots for the Quarter Finals, the teams gave it their all to grab one of the 4 elusive spots in the Semi-Final Rounds.
SEMI-FINAL ROUNDS
The Semi-Final Rounds were held on 31st October 2020. The 4 teams left no stone unturned and gave a scintillating performance as they gave it their all to move to The Finals of the 1st NOMAC 2020.
THE GRAND FINALS
The Finals of the 1st National Online Med-Arb Competition were between the Client Advocate teams from Tamil Nadu National Law University and Maharashtra National Law University while the Mediators/Arbitrators were from National Law University, Jodhpur and Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad. The Esteemed panel of Judges for the Finals comprised of Mr.Ratan K. Singh FCIArb, FMIArb, FAIADR, FPD , Arbitrator and Advocate,Chambers of Ratan K Singh,Ms.Rukmani Menon, Mediator and Mr.Ganesh Chandru, Partner, Dua Associates who also gave valuable feedback which immensely benefited the participants!
VALEDICTORY CEREMONY
The Valedictory Ceremony of the 1st National Online Med-Arb Competition was conducted on 1st November 2020 on WebEx. The Chief Guest of the event was Mr.Aman Lekhi,Additional Solicitor General of India and the Guest of Honour was Mr. Gopal Sankaranarayanan,Senior Advocate,Supreme Court of India. Mr. Aman Lekhi spoke about the lacuna in India with regard to the efforts being made to become an efficient global Arbitration Hub and the drawbacks of the 2019 amendment to the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 while Mr.Gopal Sankaranarayanan spoke about changing the perspective with which mediation is viewed in India and the challenges of conducting mediation and arbitration on an online platform. The participants benefited exponentially from this exposition of knowledge.
